THYROID DISORDERS IN NORTH INDIA AND THEIR REPORTING BY BETHESDA SYSTEM €“ 1 YEAR RETROSPECTIVE STUDY

Background: Thyroid nodules are very common clinical problem and thyroid cancer is becoming more prevalent. Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) has become a well established modality in the diagnosis, staging follow up of nodules. FNAC results routinely classified using Bethesda system for reporting cytopathology. The cytopathology significant step to standardize FNA reporting. It high reproducibility, predictive value improved significance. Aims And Objectives: To determine spectrum disorders north India accuracy reliability our center. Material Method: A retrospective study was carried out on 133 patients referred Department from July 2021 August 2020. Slides were retrieved section Pathology, GMCH, reviewed then as per Patients all ages gender included study. Results: Total procedures performed during period. 86 cases females 47 males with male female ratio 1:1.83. 9 category-I, 74 category-II, 11 category-III, 8 category-IV, category-V 22 category VI. Out patients, only 36 underwent surgery among these cases, 4 category-IV , category-VI which further confirmed malignancy histopathology reports. Conclusion: Our substantiates greater reproducibility Pathologists TBSRTC arrive at precise diagnosis an added advantage predicting risk enables clinician plan surgery, extent or follow-up by repeating specific intervals.
